Orellana Studio

Artist Statement

I enjoy storytelling and finding creative solutions that engage the viewer with my work. So much of the practice of painting happens in the solitude of my studio. My hope is that these singular observations put onto a surface will inspire conversations and connections that ties us all to the commonality of our humanity.

I am deeply drawn to history and its accounts of what was learned, forgotten and rediscovered.  The results journal accounts from various periods of my life. I am influenced by antiquity, textures, my Colombian culture, and the graphic arts.  All of these references nest upon each other and culminate in works with a bit of nostalgia.
